Heatwave

"Brits are good at dressing for cold and excellent at dressing for rain ... But we are not enabled for sun-appropriate fashion."
Polly Vernon

Reading this article, it made me realise that's exactly what's wrong at the moment. I've been in a 30degree sticky heat ridden Paris for a good month now and I'm seeing so many flaws in my wardrobe. Brits have serious problems when it comes to dressing for hot weather. When I went to Sydney last year I think I started to realise that my wardrobe was really really unsuitable.
In fact when you are half way across the world and you realise that all your clothes are cashmere or just weird looking holiday clothes and you're in Sydney and you're hanging out with people that don't have to deal with temperatures below 15degrees ever and look fantastic in all their interesting never heard of before Australian labels you start to panic. And hate your wardrobe. And then through the panic you panic buy and then you come out looking like a cheap surfer chick and then you come home back to UK, back to where's the weather is easy to dress for and then you realise youll never wear any of the clothes you bought again. Ever. Or at least that's just me.
Paris I think is the perfect place to reconfigure your new summer wardrobe, all these women wander around looking Garance picture perfect and I'm amazed. when I get up in the morning all i want to do is throw a tiny t-shirt and shorts on but these women never fail to perfect their looks. It was the same in Sydney.
And I need to learn how they do it but alas this poor Brit is struggling. I'm in search of perfect shorts and slouchy t-shirts but its so hot to shop. Saying that i really should take more advantage of these summer sales. Maybe tomorrow on my Bastille day off!
I'm sure ill still come back looking like a weird hippy surfer chick though, either that or ill buy a jumper...

Suit up

I've always had a fascination with work attire, I think its because I've never actually stepped foot in an office ready to work before. I'm always thinking of what I'll one day wear to the office, everyone tells me its a drag going work clothes shopping. Its hard work and all that but I love a good challenge, office wear that's all about concealing and to have the ability to be taken seriously and still look interesting right? Well my first stop would definitely be Acne. My only stop actually, I have no idea where else I would go. Season after season they rock the cool, slouchy versatile goodness, and this season is even better because they've gone all 70s and I like being transported back into the 70s.
Don't know how I'd deal with wearing heels all day but at least you can throw on some wedges rather than some evil sky rising court shoes with this look.

Lavender's got a massive spotlight in my life right now, i just bought the opi nail varnish 'rumple's wiggin' which looks fantastic on pale skin. And i have not one but two lavender candles burning away in my room, one from Diptyque and one I got free when I bought my new bed. The smell is of my future front garden. One which is just going to have mass amounts of wild untamed lavender up both sides of my path way, i love the smell its like a perfect English summer, running around in fields and having picnics, it reminds me of being a kid. And ive been told that its keeps the spiders away and that is just dreamy.
If I had blonde hair I would continue this theme further and would streak it with lavender tones, I think the coloured streaks always look better on blonde rather than brunettes, its so much more of a contrast whereas colour would just be lost in my dark slightly red hair. So instead of dying my hair a few weeks ago i bought a panama hat by Pachacuti in liberty, they aren't on the website just in store but they are here.

Crash and burn

I love motorbikes, they are like roller coasters on the road. So much fun, so fast! Completely and utterly dangerous, but that just adds to it all.
Ive only ever ridden with one friend, but hes insanely safe but also crazy at the same time when hes on the bike with other people, sadly though
he was served with a 6 month driving ban for going to fast and two weeks before he had to give up his bike wrote it off flying over a speed bump.
So there goes my cool girl in leathers look for a while.
